This article is just food for thought, kind of stream of conscious style. It's something that I took into consideration when designing. According to Dictionary.com, race means: –noun 1. a group of persons related by common descent or heredity. In D&D race takes on a slightly different meaning. When race is referred to in D&D, what's really meant is species. Elves and humans are different species with unique physiology and vastly different racial abilities. In fact, an orc is more like a human than an elf is. I bring this up, because in Emilin, the different races are essentially the same species. Influenced by the presence of their dragon masters and the magic of Emilin, different cultures have evolved, yielding unique abilities and physiologies as well. They could be considered different species, and I considered taking on that term, but decided to stick with what's familiar. I think I've strayed enough as it is.
